Dit vervolg op Sissi gaat over haar eerste huwelijksjaren met Franz Joseph van Oostenrijk. Het valt de jonge keizerin moeilijk zich geheel te richten naar de strenge hofetiquette, vooral verpersoonlijkt door aartshertogin Sophie, haar schoonmoeder. Na de geboorte van Sissi's dochtertje spitsen de reeds ontstane conflicten zich toe: Sophie wil namelijk het kind opvoeden.

This sequel to Sissi is about her first years of marriage with Franz Joseph of Austria. It is the young Empress hard himself entirely to comply with the strict court etiquette, especially personified by Archduchess Sophie, her mother.
