Sister Act - Una svitata in abito da suora (Sister Act) è un film del 1992 diretto da Emile Ardolino.

Deloris Van Cartier (Whoopi Goldberg) è una scatenata cantante dei casinò e amante del boss Vincent LaRocca, un ricettatore di denaro sporco e trafficante di droga di origine siciliana.
Dopo una litigata fra i due a causa delle problematiche sul divorzio di Vincent, egli manda alla fidanzata una pelliccia di visone firmata Connie LaRocca, la moglie del boss.
Offesa da questo comportamento superficiale, Deloris decide di andare nel quartier generale del fidanzato per comunicargli che vuole lasciarlo definitivamente e dedicarsi alla carriera.
Ma appena entrata nella stanza, assiste all'omicidio di un autista del boss, che il giorno prima aveva fatto una "soffiata" alla polizia.
Deloris si dà alla fuga e Vince dà ordine di inseguirla ed ucciderla per eliminare il testimone dell'omicidio.
La cantante impaurita va a raccontare tutto alla polizia e si affida al tenente Eddy Sauter, che suggerisce di nasconderla nel convento di suore carmelitane di Santa Caterina.
Deloris viene quindi nascosta in convento, diventando Suor Maria Claretta...


Sister Act is a 1992 American comedy film released by Touchstone Pictures.
Directed by Emile Ardolino, it features musical arrangements by Marc Shaiman and stars Whoopi Goldberg as a Reno lounge singer who has been put under protective custody in a San Francisco convent
and has to pretend to be a nun when a mob boss puts her on his hit list.
Also in the cast are Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, Mary Wickes, and Harvey Keitel.

The film opens at St. Anne's Academy, a California Catholic school in 1968, where a young girl named Deloris Wilson (Jones) is scolded for wisecracking and disobeying rules.
The setting then changes to the present day, where Deloris van Cartier is a lounge singer working in a casino called The Moonlight Lounge, located in Reno, Nevada run by her boyfriend, Vince LaRocca, a mobster.
After Deloris witnesses Vince executing a chauffeur, Vince orders his men Joey and Willy to kill her too.
Deloris flees Vince's casino to the local police station where Lieutenant Eddie Souther suggests she stand trial against Vince if he can be arrested, but for now, she should go into witness protection until the time comes.
Deloris is taken to St. Katherine's Roman Catholic Church in a seedy run down neighborhood of San Francisco, where Souther suggests she disguise herself as a nun.
Both Deloris and the Reverend Mother object, but are convinced by Souther and Monsignor O'Hara to go ahead with it.
Deloris becomes a nun and is given the name "Sister Mary Clarence"...
