Na het overlijden van haar geliefde vader blijft Blanche alleen achter bij
haar stiefmoeder Alexia. De akelige vrouw kijkt nauwelijks om naar haar
stiefdochter; ze is veel te druk met haar uiterlijk. Ze kan dan ook geen
genoeg krijgen van haar favoriete spiegel die haar altijd uitroept tot de
mooiste van het land. Gelukkig ontfermt de zorgzame huishoudster Nelly zich
over de lieve, inmiddels bijna achttienjarige Blanche. Nelly kent Blanche
al vanaf haar geboorte. Wanneer Alexia op een dag de engelachtige schoonheid
van Blanche opmerkt, wordt ze helemaal gek van jaloezie. Gebotoxt of niet,
er is er maar één de mooiste van het land en dat is én blijft zij zelf.

After the death of her beloved father remains Blanche alone with her
