Lindsey Ashe is a recently widowed writer of popular romantic fiction. Being afraid to live alone in her isolated cottage, she decides to take in a student lodger, but ends up with three: the sensible Chris, the bolshie Blitz and the sensitive Dickon.

Throughout the year the three young men are under her roof, the relationship between landlady and lodgers changes, most of all, that between Lindsey and Dickon, in whom she takes an increasingly motherly attitude.

Beautifully written and performed, especially by Dame Flora as Lindsey Ashe and by Andrew Branch as Dickon.
