Microsoft Windows 8.0

All SOLIDWORKS 2016 products will not install on Windows 8.0. You must upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1. For current supported operating systems, see System Requirements.

32-Bit Operating Systems

SOLIDWORKS 2014 was the last release that supported the Windows 7 32-bit operating system. SOLIDWORKS 2016 products will not install on the Windows 7 32-bit operating system.

Microsoft Access Database

SOLIDWORKS 2015 was the last release that supported Microsoft Access Databases.

SOLIDWORKS Server Products

SOLIDWORKS 2016 products will not install on Windows Server® 2003 and 2008 operating systems.


The 64-bit SOLIDWORKS 2016 Document Manager is not automatically installed when installing SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Server 2016 SP0.0, SP0.1, and SP1.0. If the proper Document Manager is not installed on the server, then users may experience problems when using SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM 2016. This installation problem is targeted for correction in the full release of 2016 SP2.0.

The SPR associated with this problem is 927914 (The SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Server 2016 installer fails to install the 64-bit SOLIDWORKS 2016 Document Manager.)

Windows 10 64-bit

SOLIDWORKS 2016 includes support for the Windows 10 64-bit operating system for all SOLIDWORKS products.
