This book is about depression. It was born from my attempts to explain to my wife what it is like to suffer from depression. For more than three decades she has tried so hard to understand, but I find it almost impossible to explain. If you are a fellow sufferer, you know what I mean. If you are a friend or family member of someone who suffers from depression, perhaps this book will help. It is about depression from the inside looking out; the day by day struggle to hold down a job and to raise a family. In parallel, the story of my rags to riches career is in here too. But if you find my life story too boring, skip it or speed read those parts. I won’t be offended. Sufferer or concerned observer, I hope that it may bring a measure of understanding and help to ease your pain.
