Description
1. A Cold Day in Paradise (1998)
Other than the bullet lodged less than a centimetre from his heart, former Detroit police officer Alex McKnight thought he had put the nightmare of his partner's death and his own near-fatal injury behind him. After all, Maximilian Rose, convicted of the crimes, has been locked in the state pen for years. But in the small town of Paradise, Michigan, where McKnight has traded his badge for a cosy cabin in the woods, a murderer with Rose's unmistakable trademarks appears to be back to his killing ways. With Rose locked away, McKnight can't understand who else would know the intimate details of the old murders - not to mention the signature blood-red rose left on his doorstep. It seems as though Hell will freeze over before McKnight can unravel the cold truth in this town that's anything but Paradise. 2. Winter of the Wolf Moon (2000) It's winter in Paradise, a small town in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on the frozen borders of Canada and Alex McNight is content to stay warm in front of the fire at the Glasgow Inn with a bottle of Canadian beer. Once a catcher in the minor leagues, later a Detroit police officer, Alex gave the private eye business a try and it ended up being the 'second worst' mistake of his life. So when a young native American woman of the Ojibwa tribe comes to him for help, Alex is reluctant to become involved. 3. The Hunting Wind (2001) 'The calendar said April but April in Paradise is still cold enough to hurt you ...' Alex McKnight is sipping a Canadian beer in the Glasgow Inn when Randy Wilkins, a left-handed pitcher from his baseball days in Detroit, turns up out of the blue. Finally he gets to the point. Randy's in love with a girl called Maria and wants to find her. 4. North of Nowhere (2002) Alex McKnight rarely ventures out from his home these days, even to spend time at his friend Jackie's Glasgow Inn. Even as he lets Jackie force him out one night for a poker game at a stranger's house, Alex is certain it's a bad idea. And when the genial atmosphere rapidly deteriorates, he starts to think maybe he was right. 5. Blood Is The Sky (2003) Alex McKnight and his Ojibwa friend Vinnie stranded in the wilds of northern Ontario. 6. Ice Run (2004) It is March in Paradise, Michigan, and for the first time since moving there, Alex is taking a hard look at his life, and realizing just how much he's been hiding from. This is what happens when a fifty year old solitary man finds love again, when he never thought he would. The woman is Natalie Reynaud, the officer from the Ontario Provincial Police whose partner was killed when he flew up to the remote outpost to find Alex and Vinnie 7. A Stolen Season (2006) It's the most miserable summer anyone can remember in Paradise, Michigan. Alex and his occasional partner Leon are outside the local casino, waiting to see the 4th July firework celebrations when they witness a spectacular boat crash. They drag four men from the wreck and revive them. When Alex's friend Vinnie is later beaten up by four strangers, it doesn't take Alex long to figure out who they might be. 8. Misery Bay (2011) On a frozen January night, a young man loops one end of a long rope over the branch of a tree. The other end he ties around his neck. A snowmobiler will find him 36 hours later, his lifeless eyes staring out at the endless cold water of Lake Superior. It happens in a lonely corner of the Upper Peninsula, in a place they call Misery Bay, a good 250 miles west of Paradise. 9. Die a Stranger (2012) A plane lands in a deserted Upper Peninsula airstrip one night, and five dead bodies are found the next morning. The evidence suggests that not only are these murders the beginning of something bigger, but that Alex McKnight's friend Vinnie may be part of it. Alex knows he needs to find him before it's too late. 10. Let It Burn (2013) Alex McKnight doesn't leave Michigan's Upper Peninsula if he can help it. He steers clear of Detroit in particular, where he once worked as a cop. The city will forever remind him of his partner's death and of the bullet still lodged in his own chest. But a woman he can't shake has drawn him back to finally see what's there between them. Read by Dan John Miller Format: MP3 Related Torrents
