Steve Tannen is a songwriter and performer.

Born in NYC, Steve grew up in Australia, Canada, and New York. The grandson of a magician, he started performing early and learned music at home. Steve spent several years working odd jobs around the U.S., developing a personal mix of folk and rock. He then moved back to NYC and started a rock and roll project, with help from New York musicians including former Suzanne Vega guitarist Jon Gordon.
Steve's resulting debut CD, "Big Señorita," was chosen as one of Performing Songwriter Magazine's Top 12 Independent Releases of the Year in 2001. The release enabled him to tour nationally and garnered him an avalanche of national and international awards, including the Grand Prize in the USA Songwriting Competition.
In addition to his solo work, Steve is currently a member of two bands: The Tannen Brothers (with brother Greg Tannen) and The Weepies (with collaborator Deb Talan).

Steve's second solo CD, "Stopped at a Green Light," was released in September, 2003.
