The 14th century (the 1300's, hence Trecento, "the '300's") is the transition between the Ars Antiqua (Old Music) and the Ars Nova (New Art) of Landini and others. We know almost nothing about some of the composers whose works are performed here, but they're the pioneers of a major change in western music.
Commentary for the CD by Emilia Danilevski appears in English translation by Edward Seymour; the French text is not credited to a translator, so is presumably her original. The original Italian lyrics was translated into English by Prof. Giovanni Carsaniga.
