Description
"Umbra" is a Latin word and means "phantom", something that you think exits, but that is not real... There is no so-called history of Umbra. It has existed somewhere in the space since ever. eLL claims that she and Maciek are mere souls who simply try to render Umbra audible. "I had an explicit vision of the atmosphere that was to be created - I knew exactly what I wanted to hear... It is unutterable fortune I met Maciek then. Not only was he eager to offer his help but also he did get Umbra's meaning" explains Eliza in an interview for "Ultima Comparatio". 5 years ago eLL was a member of an underground, death noise industrial band D.ZONE. Maciek also plays in the excellent gothic band Artrosis. "Maciek is responsible for technicalities and developing our music ideas whereas I create the atmosphere. He takes care of body, I of soul" adds the vocalist. eLL and Maciek focused mainly on feeling and emotions as the essence of art, not concentrating so much on the technique. Their start at the music scene was also not typical. Without releasing any demos they recorded their first material for the famous underground label Fluttering Dragon Records. "Ater" was a difficult album, it seemed a very introspective journey through very personal sensations and emotions. eLL's incredible voice lead the listener through the dark, gloomy, unholy journey. Then Umbra appeared at two splits, "Possum Play Falcon" with Ildfrost and "Temple Of Kilowatts". "Coma", their second album was released in 2002 and immediately acclaimed the musical sensation of the year. eLL claims she's half-witch, half-woman… "I do believe I do black magic rituals while composing and performing my music" she once said.
It's time for "Amok" now… ENJOY... Sharing Widget |
