TRAMA:

Dal celebrato romanzo di Irène Némirovsky, SUITE FRANCESE, è il racconto dell’amore bruciante di un uomo e una donna travolti dalla Storia. Ambientato in Francia nel 1940, il film narra della bellissima Lucile Angellier (Michelle Williams) che nell'attesa di ricevere notizie del marito prigioniero di guerra, vive un'esistenza soffocante insieme alla suocera, donna dispotica e meschina (Kristin Scott Thomas). La vita di Lucile viene stravolta quando i parigini in fuga si rifugiano nella cittadina dove vive e la città viene invasa dai soldati tedeschi che occupano le loro case. Inizialmente Lucile ignora la presenza di Bruno (Matthias Schoenaerts) un raffinato ufficiale tedesco che è stato dislocato nella loro abitazione. Ma dopo l'iniziale indifferenza, Lucile "si risveglia" e inizia a esplorare sentimenti sepolti che la porteranno inevitabilmente verso Bruno...

STORYLINE:

France, 1940. In the first days of occupation, beautiful Lucile Angellier (Michelle Williams is trapped in a stifled existence with her controlling mother-in-law (Kristin Scott Thomas) as they both await news of her husband: a prisoner of war. Parisian refugees start to pour into their small town, soon followed by a regiment of German soldiers who take up residence in the villagers' own homes. Lucile initially tries to ignore Bruno von Falk (Matthias Schoenaerts), the handsome and refined German officer staying with them. But soon, a powerful love draws them together and leads them into the tragedy of war.
