Superfoods: The Real Story Series 1
Everything's a superfood these days, isn't it? Broccoli, blueberries, dark chocolate, coconut oil... But, of course, you can't believe everything you read. Longevity-boosting claims make tasty clickbait, but how many of these stories are backed by solid evidence?
Sadly, it's hard to tell; in our information-saturated age, it often feels like science knows more about the Higgs boson than about the health benefits of the goji berry. Food Unwrapped's Kate Quilton hopes to find some grains of truth (wholegrains, presumably), as she grills nutrition experts both conventional and complementary.

1) Part 1
Kate Quilton investigates the purported health benefits of superfoods, meeting leading scientists, nutritionists and dieticians to learn which are worth the money. She begins by finding out whether kale has a secret power that could help the eye, discovers if grapefruit can help fight fat, and uncovers the truth about sugar substitute xylitol and looks at whether it could actually be good for teeth.

2) Part 2
Kate tests the credentials of three aspiring superfoods, examining whether berries are as healthy as they are made out to be, and which type is the best. She then investigates if detox drinks containing charcoal can undo a weekend of excess, before traveling to Uganda to find out if the sweet potato could be vital in the fight against malnutrition.

3) Part 3
In this episode Kate investigates the purported health benefits of three more superfoods, finding out how quinoa fares against rice in the battle of the grains. She also reveals whether a type of algae called spirulina is worth adding to diets, and asks if broccoli really can help in the fight against cancer.

4) Part 4
In this final episode Kate tests the credentials of three superfoods that many people believe can help with the heart, the blood and the gut. She reveals whether fermented milk drink kefir can help keep a debilitating digestive disease at bay, examines if omega-3 oil-rich fish is as good for cardiac health as is claimed and goes to extreme lengths to find out if wheatgrass really can oxygenate her blood.

Thanks again MVGroup... You never fail to surprise with you knowledge treasures. Your uploads have really started to grow on me...

BTW is there a documentary on how top athletes train ?? In this season of Tour de France, and an air thick with doping allegations, I'm really curious to have a peek into the training regimes of these ultra-humans !!!
