Superfrog HD - PC Indie Game [2013]

If you're going to rip off classic platforming games, this is the way to do it. Superfrog plays like a combination of the mechanics of Super Mario Brothers and Sonic The Hedgehog, with little that feels entirely new to it. Fortunately, it does a decent job of getting the tight, polished feel of those games, and doesn't suffer from the problems many similar games succumbed to. So think of the jump-and-stomp mechanics of the original Super Mario Brothers, and the lightning speed and jumping of the original Sonic, and this is it.

Now, Superfrog is not a new game, it is an HD update for an older platformer for PC, making it more contemporary to the games it borrowed from. Along with new HD graphics, the levels have been reworked and game has been revised in many ways. Original levels are included as unlockable bonuses for completing new levels and winning at a slot machine.

Basically, you want an old-fashioned, good-looking and good-playing platformer that you can just kick back, plug in a gamepad and enjoy, this is it.
