The Abraxis Complex series by Ben Winston

Overview:

Ben Winston (1965 - ?) was born in Iowa and grew up in Minnesota on the family dairy farm. Upon reaching adulthood, he joined the United States Army as a communications technician. Before getting out of the military, he decided to go to school for computer electronics.
Shortly after getting out of the military, and after getting a new job with an over-seas company, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. A month after beginning the new job, he was laid off due to budget over-runs on the project he was hired for. Upon returning to the United States, he had difficulty maintaining employment because of the chronic illness.

He began writing as a form of stress release, from being home bound and not being able to work, and found he liked writing erotica. Ben wrote a trilogy called the Talosian Chronicles (Currently in rewrite to remove the graphic sex and finalized his vision of the story). The first book, Star Dancer, won awards and was nominated for many others by the online communities where it was posted.

1. Origin of Prometheus: When four friends reunite after graduation, they find that they have more in common than good grades. Destiny pulls the four young people into an ancient, intra-galactic war that both sides lost thousands of years ago. However, their first battle isn’t in space.

2. Sword of Damocles: The novice Rangers get their base set up, unpack the equipment, and begin training. However, the one problem they face, they have no idea how to solve; how to stop the corrupted AI that was keeping the eons old war going while keeping their planet and sector free, as well as protect the independent AI node that is helping them, safe. In the process, they sow the seeds for a new alliance.

3. Abraxis Code: Greg and the team encounter opposition to their plans by the US Government. They decide going to the UN might start a nuclear war, so decide to move to the moon, and work directly with the people of the Earth. Abraxis learns that Greg knows he hid the discovery of the Abraxis Code from the Rangers. Greg orders all knowledge of the code to be classified; even from their new allies. Is that really the way to start an alliance?

4. Forging Aegis: Greg and his team are working to keep the races safe while also trying to get the other Rangers trained. As the Lead Ranger Fighter for Earth, Greg also has to be available for the visiting diplomats, and make sure every one’s being treated fairly. When the Drellians begin making small short raids into the sector on top of everything else, will it be more than Greg can take? The seeds of the Alliance are sown, different races are coming to Earth’s Moon to help get everything built, but will it all fall apart before it ever gets started?
