The Avengers (2012). Xvid/AVI. RiffTrax!



This is both a "fix" for the previous upload and an addition of two more releases. Basically, there was a problem with audio track 1 (the riff) as a result of me stupidly forgetting to downmix the AC3 audio when converting it to MP3 for mixing the riff. Oops.



Anyhow, I'd scrapped all the raw materials, so decided to just start all over. The previous video was 25 FPS (this is why some of you noted how it was slightly shorter than expected). The new video, also a blu-ray rip, is NTSC. Ultimately, once I'd finished it, I decided that I really did like the unriffed AC3 audio track from the original, so what the hell, I just converted the new riff to 23.97 FPS equivalent, lined it up, and patched the PAL. Additionally, someone requested a basic, single audio track version to avoid problems with playback, so I whipped up one of those, as well.



So, here's what you've got to choose from. You don't have to download everything, but please do seed the portion(s) that you take. :)



#1: The largest file. This is the original upload with fixed audio. It replaces the old one, and is PAL/BR sourced:

AVI-Mux_GUI can extract the subs from the file. I've only done it once, since it's not something I've needed to do often, so don't recall where the option is located, but can at least say that it wasn't hard to find once I went looking for it. :)
Also, don't forget that the "fixed" file (PAL) is a different source video than the one used for the other two (NTSC) in this torrent, so be sure and extract from the same version you intend to use the subs with externally (or recombine as Divx). BTW, I'd be very interested in seeing one of those finished Divx versions, if you felt like upping it, especially if it proves to be more functional as you've described. Might even get me to switch to it for future releases if it works on a wider selection of machines.

It's just Xvid, so the only thing I can think of that might be the cause (and if it's true I'll find it to be a bit bizarre) would be the embedded subs. It's a normal functions of an AVI container, but rarely used. Most people just toss the external subs into the folder or hard-code them. I much prefer having them stored inside the file for easy access. They're still optional that way, too, not forced. Only downside is that, occasionally, certain standalone devices can't see 'em. (First time anything's said the file was corrupt, though.)
I'll test the theory on my PS3 and will letcha know what happens. If it is the problem, you can easily solve it by firing up AVI_Mux-GUI (free proggie --just Google it) and unchecking the subs, then merely saving the file again.

The two @ 23.97 FPS are 143. The 25 FPS (the biggest one) is 137, since it plays slightly faster. Those kooky Europeans.
