Unlike most "Beatlegs, " this compilation has something for everyone-from casual fan to rabid completist. The February '64 show at the Washington Coliseum was filmed by CBS for closed-circuit theater distribution nationwide. Screams, technical problems, and dodgy sound quality aside, it was a stellar performance-cut short when the camera ran out of film! The CD's title stems from the announcer's intro, "In case you don't know who this is-that's Ringo Starr!" Highlights are many, the atmosphere electric. Other live recordings may be better known (e.g. Shea, Candlestick, Hollywood Bowl), but none capture the Fab Four's magic as brilliantly as this-their first-ever American concert. Rounding out the track list are two fine additional programmes.The undubbed version of "Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey Hey" from Shindigis a true gem. It sparkles in near-studio sound. "Boys" and "I'm A Loser" are of similarly high quality. John Lennon once acknowledged the Beatles' October 24, 1963 set for Swedish radio as one of his favorite performances (see Anthology 1). Recorded a mere six days later for Drop In (another Swedish radio show) the four songs featured here find the Beatles still in top form. "In Case You Don't Know" is an unusually worthwhile Beatles collection, definitely with the investment. It certainly deserves legitimate remastered release
