The Deluge - Potop (1974)

Storyline:

During the 1655 war between Protestant Sweden and Catholic Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth some Polish-Lithuanian nobles side with Swedish king Charles X Gustav while others side with the Polish king Jan Kazimierz. Polish colonels Andrzej Kmicic and Michal Wolodyjowski turn from foes to friends and together they fight against traitors, renegade Polish nobles and Swedish invaders.

Dzieje miłości Andrzeja Kmicica, chorążego orszańskiego i Oleńki Billewiczówny, rzucone na barwne tło historyczne najazdu szwedzkiego na Polskę w latach 1655-1660. Kmicic, początkowo opowiadający się po stronie kolaborujących z najeźdźcą Radziwiłłów, uświadamia sobie, że postępuje jak zdrajca narodu. Postanawia zrehabilitować się - porywa Bogusława Radziwiłła, co kładzie kres jego bujnej lecz haniebnej biografii.
Pod przybranym nazwiskiem Babinicza z poświęceniem służy ojczyźnie, wsławiając się brawurowymi akcjami podczas obrony klasztoru na Jasnej Górze. Z nieodpowiedzialnego watażki staje się bohaterem narodowym.
