Here is the breakdown on sources used: Disc 1: tracks 1, 3, 4: Shattered ; track 2, 5: 2nd gen ; Disc 2: tracks 1, 3: Roundhouse Blues ; track 2: Shattered ; tracks 4, 5, 6: 2nd gen All SHNs were converted to WAV using TLH and then edited in Cakewalk Home Studio 2004. SHNs > WAV > Cakewalk Home Studio 2004 > Wav > FLAC (level 6, SBE fixed). See included txt file for detailed lineage of all 3 sources. Many thanks to Buda for seeding these 3 sources on TTD. -OctopusRider 4/07 md5's: The Doors 1970-06-05 d01t01.flac:02d393f73b770a58a5c914552122d2dc The Doors 1970-06-05 d01t02.flac:37b6c7b91fbf398586b83c291ccfdf05 The Doors 1970-06-05 d01t03.flac:6d3032afec9ab6195ae43cc0a9b45ac6 The Doors 1970-06-05 d01t04.flac:6734b40d270a165d38956a111776bd12 The Doors 1970-06-05 d01t05.flac:8d4542cf6d1730e1c6e95927818a97a9 The Doors 1970-06-05 d02t01.flac:d34b9b20f77736f62ac639d668ae507e The Doors 1970-06-05 d02t02.flac:39f8b5d9b248725dc883367e55c84b65 The Doors 1970-06-05 d02t03.flac:3a8610460388a70fbc602b216c520e62 The Doors 1970-06-05 d02t04.flac:398ee1ab49a17c9868c55ccc3665b81b The Doors 1970-06-05 d02t05.flac:9eb6c5d34f44296171f23821abf11ab2 The Doors 1970-06-05 d02t06.flac:a40086199aac788351d40a677126fd2c ---------------------------------------------------------- My Notes: I DL'd this from OctopusRider in The Zomb on 2007-07-18. After perfoming 4 concerts over 2 days at the Felt Forum in New York City in the middle of January and shows at the Winterland Arena the previous two nights, Jim Morrison's voice is noticeably hoarse during this performance in Long Beach. Still, it doesn't keep him or the band from delivering a dynamic performance. This concert is one of my favorites and possibly the longest Doors concert ever performed. Unfortunately, no complete tape exists/has surfaced. Only two sources are known and they are both presented here in the best sound quality currently available -- namely 1st and 2nd generation copies. Unfortunately, whoever transferred the first source tape did so at too high a volume. It's still very listenable for an audience recording, but it should be better. Perhaps a better transfer will appear sometime in the future. While the first source is the most complete, the second source was taped much closer to the stage and compares to audience recordings from the Felt Forum. Sadly, the recording device used by the taper had some severe problems. Every song on the second source is cut -- some horribly so. I'm including this source as a companion piece to the more complete first source. There's really no way to enjoy listening to the second source without having heard the first source to help orient yourself. While many people say the second source is for completists only, I like to think there are some worthwhile snippets in there that make for a more than worthy addition to fans' collections (Jim's dialogue with the audience, for example). The second source is also the only source that includes clips of the songs "Universal Mind," "Carol," and "The End." Unlike circulating versions of this copy, all the songs are in their correct order. With these caveats in mind, I hope you enjoy this show and the two sources for it. Here's hoping a more complete copy surfaces one day and we can hear everything that went down that night. Porsche I'm always on the look out for Doors recordings I don't have or source upgrades. I think they can be uploaded on the Rhino site, see www.thedoors.com. I've put a copy of "The Doors On The Road" by Greg Shaw which will give you some informations about this performance (file Greg Shaw.jpg). The recording was probably done by the Doors enginer Bruce Botnick on personal material, so it's not a soundboard recording but not really an audience one and it's quality is very good. I've got it from DCM before the Doors management ask Kerry Humpherys to stop his trades, except for the post Morrison's shows. No artwork included, mine is too poor ! Don't convert in loss format and enjoy. ===================================================================================================================== The Doors 1970-12-11 State Fair Music Hall Dallas TX (T) I got the cassette tape for this CD-r release in trade from a guy who lived nearby in the mid 70's. He used to bring over tapes recorded at local venues dating from the late 60's through the early 70's. He didn't talk much and I didn't ask many questions. I don't believe he traded through the mail at all and only limited trades in person. He didn't record the shows but I believe he was very close to the person who did. Over the years I traded analog copies of the tape. I have never done a digital transfer of it until now. After The Cutoff 3.59 Notes by Zaval80: The source recording used by me for my correcting job was quite fine, so I've corrected just a small number of digital errors the source still had and several examples of quite harsh sounds originated from tape recorder, I believe, which detracted from the performance (I did not bother eliminating less harsh sounds of this kind). Also, I retracked the recording, so that tracks would start at the beginning of songs, and applause and stage banter, at the end. I also combined parts of "Black Train Song" and "Light My Fire", as this approach is more common, both among official and unofficial Doors recordings, though I liked the idea of preserving the original recording by using disposable "fade in"/"fade out" tracks, so these were left intact. People in the possession of the source tape who would be interested to find to what time ranges I applied changes (these changes really were not significant), are advised to use fine-tuned ExactAudioCopy for comparison of WAV files. original SHN source (see its lineage below) > mkwACT > WAV > Soundforge 6.0 > WAV > EAC (correct splitting by boundaries) > WAV > FLAC Frontend v.1.1.0 level 8 Please feel free to copy and pass on this set as it is - do not compress these files into MP3s and share/trade the results as "lossless" under any pretext. If you need to make MP3s out of these files, pass these MP3s on labeled exactly as such, MP3-sourced audio. Been Down So Long -> 7.59 14. ??? -> power cut off 0.14 15. After The Cutoff 3.59 Notes: Joe Maloney's first stealth concert recording. (Actually, back then security did not stop him from entering w/recording equipment, so I really can't call it "stealth"). Disc 1 ends with a tracked fadeout & disc 2 begins with a tracked fade in: to join the music tracks of both discs, remove d01t11 & d02t01 track. The two "discs" will splice together. At Joe's request, I left in the crowd reaction to the power cutoff (mostly for Morrison's reacting to the show being stopped). You can leave out d02t15 if you want. The transition from tape 1 to tape 2 (during the intro to Mystery Train) involved a change of tape brands (Scotch 290 -> Sunset 600) & seemed to produce a drop in recording quality. Tape 2 also seems to have many gain changes as part of the recording process. Not bad for a fist attempt at recording live music, especially having to flip tape & thread a 3 in. spool of tape in the middle of a concert crowd. Also included are Toast/Jam printouts for the CDs (so you can use the "Audio starts in Pause" timings to have a track end when the music stops and the subsequent track start when the music begins).
