FIX FOR CRASH AFTER BETHESDA LOGO LOAD

It might not be the only fix, but it just now worked for me. Copying all the files from the (mounted) CD/ISO to the "Program Files" directory did NOT work. This one did:

Set your audio properties in windows to 44khz 16bit

In Win7, navigate:

Start>Control Panel>Sound>Playback (tab)>(Select Device, for me it was) "Headphones">(right-click) "Properties">Advanced (tab) > and in the drop-down menu, change your Default Format to 2 channel, 16-bit, 44,100 Hz (the lowest setting)

Suddenly it worked! It might run at a higher setting than that, and I might slowly increase the settings until it's just below the level that it crashes, but for right now I want to play the game and see how it looks.

Hope this helps someone else.
Thanks.
Where do we put the files for the Update 1 Repack?
