The Fight For Light - Robert Murphy (Size: 222.45 KB)
DescriptionThe spiritual battles which Christians face while dealing with chronic illness. Have you ever been sick of being sick, and tired of being tired? Have you ever begun to shake at the sight of a syringe or the thought of going to the hospital or doctor? Ever looked at a handful of pills and thought, “Oh God, not again”? As a liver transplant recipient, and sufferer of chronic, acute, Hepatitis-C, I am well familiar with your battles. I invite you to travel with me on my own journey to victory, through all the pain and spiritual darkness, as we engage in our “Fight For Light.” "As someone who has dealt with life-threatening chronic illness, I found Brother Murphy’s thoughts very insightful and helpful. He wrestles through the why, what, and how of our relationship with God during times of seeming catastrophe. Not lost in the discussion is a frank and compassionate look at how God uses circumstances to conform us more to His image. This book will renew and invigorate your hope." -Rick DeMichele, Pastor of Treasure Valley Baptist Church, Meridian, Idaho About the author: Robert Murphy was saved in December 1981. A graduate of Pensacola Bible Institute in 1992, he worked in two local Baptist churches as a youth leader, and then spent ten years as a missionary in Romania. He contracted Hepatitis-C in 1975; however, in 2007, his illness became acute, and he moved to Boise, Idaho, where he joined Treasure Valley Baptist Church. In January 2011 he was admitted to the hospital due to 90% liver failure. There were many other problems in addition to the Hepatitis, and he miraculously survived death on at least three occasions. In March, he received a liver transplant, and spent a total of five months in the hospital. He began taking Interferon treatments for the Hepatitis, however, after seven months, the treatment failed. He was given a five month rest, and then, in July 2012 he was started on a new, experimental, drug for treatment. After three months that drug also failed, and he was taken off all treatment medications. Since that time his Hepatitis has proliferated, and there is nothing further medical science can accomplish.
