The Gun Runners (1958) Xvid 1cd - Audie Murphy, Patricia Owens [DDR] The Gun Runners, a 1958 film directed by Don Siegel, is the third adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's novel To Have and Have Not, starring Audie Murphy and Patricia Owens. Everett Sloane essays the part of the alcoholic sidekick originally played by Walter Brennan in the film's first adaptation, although Sloane's interpretation is less overtly comic. Eddie Albert delivers a bravura performance as a charismatic villain; other cast members include Jack Elam and Richard Jaeckel. Gita Hall, "Miss Stockholm of 1953", made her film debut as Albert's girlfriend Eva. The earlier remake, titled The Breaking Point (1950), was directed by Michael Curtiz and starred John Garfield. CAST:- Audie Murphy as Sam Martin Everett Sloane as Harvey Eddie Albert as Hanagan Patricia Owens as Lucy Martin Gita Hall as Eva Carlos Romero as Carlos Contreras Paul Birch as Sy Phillips Herb Vigran as Freddy, aka "Baldy", bar proprietor Peggy Maley as Blonde Barfly Jack Elam as Arnold John Qualen as Pop, pawnbroker-casino operator Stephen Peck as Pepito, singer-rebel leader Richard Jaeckel as "Buzurki", blond henchman on boat Directed by Don Siegel Produced by Herbert E. He is forced by financial necessity to run guns for some revolutionaries. Remake of "To Have and Have Not" based on Hemingway short story. Plot reset to early days of Cuban revolution. A charter boat skipper gets entangled in gunrunning scheme to get money to pay off debts. Sort of a sea-going film noir with bad girl, smarmy villain, and the "innocent" drawn into wrong side of law by circumstances.
