Ashburn ( Sandra Bullock ) is a special highly competent FBI agent , despite being frowned upon by colleagues for being arrogant and unfriendly. Eyeing a promotion at work , she asks her boss ( Demian Bichir ) in charge of the investigation of a powerful drug dealer in Boston , whose identity is unknown . However , soon after arriving Ashburn decides to interrogate a small dealer arrested for Mullins ( Melissa McCarthy ) , one outspoken local policeman who takes orders from anyone. Not long before the two hit the front , but they need to find a way to work together .
