The Icicle Works - Permanent Damage (Size: 64.91 MB)
Description
This is a better album than reviews have granted it. Of course it was recorded at the death of the Icicle Works, but it does include 'Motorcycle Rider' and arguably one of the finest twisted love songs ever - 'What she did to my mind'. "What she did to my mind" is a tragic story of an old man being haunted by jealousy; his young wife is out to often..."Melanie still hurts" is the most obvious ballad, while "One good eye" once again reflects tough intentions by Mister McNabb. It was as if MacNabb?s idyllic world had been cruelly invaded by real life. As if he?d turned over one too many rocks and discovered the tainted underbelly of reality malevolently grinning there. So, for the most part, gone is the natural imagery - and the quality of the lyrics do seem to suffer because of the lack. On the positive side, MacNabb's voice has never sounded better and he remains an almost undiscovered treasure.
