The Kelly Family is a Euro-American musical group consisting of a family of several generations, who play a repertoire of rock, pop and folk music. They enjoy considerable success in the hit parade and concerts in Europe and in other parts of the world, especially in Germany, the Benelux countries, Scandinavia, Visegrád Triangle of countries, Spain and Portugal. They sold over 20 million albums since the early 1980s.
For several years, the group presented a unique image of "Gypsy" and a vagabond lifestyle. This was highlighted by their ethnic clothing (such as long skirts flower worn by women of the group), their hair (very long hair in women as well as men of the group), and also by their travels across Europe by bus and by boat-house. However, in recent years they have shown a more modern look.
The group was formed in 1966 s when the two Americans Barbara and Daniel Kelly Sr. left together with the four children of the previous marriage Danny (Daniel Jr.), Caroline, Kathy and Paul US in Spain, where they sang at parties and local events. They became so famous quils went on Spanish television in 1975.
After several years of playing in the streets, they landed a contract denregistrement in Germany in 1977.
Their first major hit parade was in 1980 with the song Who'll Come With Me (David's Song) ranked number 1 in the Netherlands and Belgium and was featured in the top 20 in Germany.
After the death of the mother Barbara Kelly in 1982, and the crisis suffered by the father, Daniel Kelly, in 1990, children (dentre some of them as adults), continued to record and play alone. However, Dan Sr. has always remained an important figure in the group until 2002, the year of his death. In the 1990s, the group has enjoyed his greatest success to date. Their album "Over the Hump", released in 1994, has sold over 3.5 million copies in Germany that nothing (the biggest selling pop album in lhistoire of Germany), and 4 5 million through lEurope. To promote the album, they did a concert in 1995 in Vienna, before an audience of 250,000 people. In the same year, they filled the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, nine times in a row, a feat accomplished since na no other musician. In 1996, they made one of their first Tour stage, filling some of the biggest venues dEurope shows. They also had a rare chance to play in Beijing, China, before an audience of 20,000 people. The success continued up to quils began to no longer be daccord on professional issues, at the beginning of 2000. The interest of fans pushed them to make their comeback with concerts in Germany, in 2007.
