DescriptionTHE KOOKS - KONK, album released in Europe April 11th-14th 2008 and U.S.A. April 15th 2008. Encoded 192Kbps [Lame] mp3. Covers included. The Kooks are an indie rock band from Brighton, England. The band formed at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, where they were all students. Lead singer and rhythm guitarist Luke Pritchard got bassist Max Rafferty involved in a college project, which formed the base of the band. After getting lead guitarist Hugh Harris and drummer Paul Garred involved, they chose a band name from a song off the 1971 David Bowie album Hunky Dory, entitled 'Kooks'. The Kooks released a debut EP and played Brighton's Free Butt festival, and were instantly signed to Virgin Records. Pritchard wrote The Kooks' hit song 'Na∩ve' when he was only fifteen years old, which after release catapulted their debut album, 'Inside In/Inside Out' into the UK Top 20 charts for more than half of 2006. The album has sold more than a million copies and has attained triple platinum status. They went on their first US tour in October 2006, selling out shows both in New York and Los Angeles. Among the band's honours are a nomination for Best New Act at the 2006 Q Awards and the award for Best UK and Ireland Act at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards and had one nomination at The BRIT Awards and a shortlist nomination. 'Konk' is the second album by English indie rock band The Kooks, released on April 14th 2008. 'Konk? was recorded over a six week period at the tail-end of 2007 in Ray Davies? Konk Studios in north London, plus a week at Los Angeles Sound Factory. The sessions once again united the group with esteemed producer Tony Hoffer [Beck/Air/The Fratellis]. Explaining how he came to suggest the album title, guitarist Hugh says, "I just started thinking how cool the studio is, and how much of a part of our sound it is". ?Konk? features twelve tracks. There?s ?Gap? which is classic Kooks, and ?Shine On? which finds Luke exploring hitherto unchartered lyrical territory over the loveliest of melodies. It?s destined to become another lynchpin in The Kooks? live set. First single ?Always Where I Need To Be? is a tumbling rocker with a ?do-do-do, do-do-do-do? refrain that might just be the catchiest thing they?ve ever done. ?Sway? and ?Mr Maker? are other album highlights. Track 12 ['Tick of Time'> contains a hidden track 'All Over Town', which I have extracted for your listening convenience.
