Akcja filmu toczy się w 18-wiecznej skolonializowanej Ameryce, gdzie toczy się wojna pomiędzy Anglią i Francją. Film opowiada o losach białego Indianina który jako dziecko został przygarnięty przez plemię Mohikanów. Główny bohater stara się żyć w zgodzie z naturą i zasadami swojego plemienia, nie mieszając się w sprawy zwaśnionych narodów, jednakże miłość do córki angielskiego generała oraz nieoczekiwane koleje losu krzyżują jego ścieżki z ścieżkami obcej wojny. Scenariusz filmu powstał na podstawie powieści Jamesa Fenimore Coopera "Ostani Mohikanin" z 1826 roku oraz na podstawie scenariusza (Philip Dunne) filmu z 1936r. pod tym samym tytułem. W 1993r Oskar za najlepszy dźwięk - Chris Jenkins, Doug Hemphill, Mark Smith, Simon Kaye.
