If the desktop shortcut wont launch, you have to go to the main game
folder and use the config.exe file at least once to launch the game..
after that you can use the desktop shortcut normally.. (tested it myself)



UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS

For people who have flickering issues in the game.. here are 3 options:

1. Update your Video drivers
Updating your Video drivers solved the issues for some players (based on the research i made regarding this issue)

2. Tinker with the Config.exe file settings (Which is found in the games main folder)

3.. Play in Window-mode
For some reason people who have flickering issues.. once they set the config.exe setting to window-mode the game played and ran smoothly with no problems.

If you are going to play in window-mode.. and you are annoyed with the windows border on the top

here is a easy solution
1. Download this small software: Torrent: RemoveBorders for Windows 10 or RemoveBorder
You can freely update this and launch it with no problems.
2.you can follow the instructions in the youtube vid: How to set RemoveBoarder
