Description
Are you a fan of Billy Bragg, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Against Me!, The Hold Steady, Constantines, The Weakerthans or Elliott Smith? Get ready to discover the best band you never heard of.
Collected here are 2 full-length albums by Ron Hawkins' first band, The Lowest of the Low ("Shakespeare My Butt" [1991] and "Hallucigenia" [1994]), his first solo album, "The Secret of My Excess" (1996) and his first 2 full-length albums by his subsequent band The Rusty Nails ("Greasing the Star Machine" [1998] and "Crackstatic" [2000]). I've also included the B-sides from the Lowest of the Low singles "Motel 30" and "City Full of Cowards" and some miscellaneous Hawkins solo stuff. The Lowest of the Low were a huge influence on a generation of Canadian punks, especially The Weakerthans. In fact, "Shakespeare, My Butt" was the biggest-selling Canadian indie album ever until Barenaked Ladies came along.
