Description
It's not surprising that a band with at least three competent lead vocalists would produce an album often using several elaborate vocal attacks as their signature. This came out at the onset of the British new wave, but instead of relying on layers of guitars they seemed more inclined to mix voices with keyboards on top of a fast beat. Occasionally the guitar is more dominating on songs like the very good "Breathless", however the vocals are still in the forefront.
"Airport" and "Forget About You" are my favorite songs on the LP. However "Breathless", "Sensation" and the ballad "Today" are awesome too. The remaining songs are rather average, but they are similar enough to keep the album consistent. I bought this record when I was 15 years old and I still love it. This is the 2006 re-release of this gem. Songs withsign are bonus tracks that were not on the original record. The Motors were: Nick Garvey (guitar, bass, vocal), Andy McMaster (keyboards, bass, vocal), Bram Tchaikovsky [aka Peter Bramall] (guitar, vocal, 1977-78), Ricky Slaughter [aka Richard Wernham] (drums, 1977-78), Martin Ace (bass, 1979-80), Terry Williams (drums, 1979-80) Tracklisting: 01 Airport (4:36) 02 Mammma Rock'n Roller (4:03) 03 Forget About You (2:51) 04 Do You Mind (3:22) 05 You Beat The Hell Outta Me (3:24) 06 Breathless (4:30) 07 Soul Redeemer (2:40) 08 Dreaming Your Life Away (4:48) 09 Sensation (3:22) 10 Today (3:59) 11 The Day I Found a Fiver 12 Cold Love [Live]13 Be What You Gotta Be [Live]14 Today [7" Single Version]15 Picturama/The Middle Bit/Soul Sharing Widget |
