Attempts to push back the frontiers of space lead to terrifying consequences when the first manned space flight returns from its mission with only one of the crew still alive. Professor Quatermass of the British Experimental Rocket Group finds himself confronting an alien life form.

This is the most famous of the early science fiction serials on British TV. Unfortunately, it is from the era when things were broadcast "live", and only the first 2 of the 6 episodes were recorded for posterity. The other episodes are lost, but two years later, a film adaptation was made, called The Quatermass Xperiment (1955), and in 2005 a new live version for TV was made, also available here.
