The Restaurant - s02e01 Signature Dish (10th September 2008)



A new series as Raymond Blanc searching for a couple with the culinary and business skills to become his partners. From the hundreds of couples who applied, nine have been chosen from all over Britain to compete for the prize. They include newly-weds, best friends, mums and husbands and a father and daughter.



But Raymond has a surprise - before the couples' dreams can become a reality, they face their first tough test. Each couple must cook and present one dish to showcase both their concept and their skills - and they have just an hour to do it under Raymond's critical eye. For them, it's a first taste of the high pressure they'll be under in the coming weeks. For Raymond, it's his first chance to see the couples in action.



And by the end, one couples dream will be over, before it has even begun.

Raymond Blanc challenges the remaining couples to provide a formal dinner at three prestigious Oxford colleges. Each couple must devise and cook a meal for the 24 dons on High Table and another for the 140 students in the main hall of their college. They must also observe the dining protocols of each college. The inspectors turn up to watch the action and report back. Then the couples face Raymond. At the end of the challenge, one couple's dream will be over and their restaurant closed for good.
