• President Obama sent Congress a $3.83 trillion budget today that would pour more money into the fight against unemployment, boost taxes on the wealthy and freeze spending for a wide swath of government programs. The deficit for this year would surge to a record-breaking $1.56 trillion, topping last year’s then unprecedented $1.41 trillion gap.

• The Obama administration said Sunday it would consider local opposition in deciding where to hold 9/11 trials and pledged to seek swift justice for the professed mastermind of the attacks.

• President Obama engaged House GOP-ers in an extraordinary televised debate Friday, days after calling for a more bipartisan approach to governing. The tone was civil, but Obama stood his ground as he parried some of the harshest critics of his performance as president.

• Beyonce became the most decorated female on a Grammy night as she collected six trophies, including song of the year for her anthem “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).
