Description





De geschiedenis van The Subs begint in 2002 in de Gentse discotheek Culture Club, waar Koen Leroux en Wiebe Locuffier onder de naam Starski & Tonic vaste DJ's waren, evenals 2 Many DJs en The Glimmers. In 2003 wordt het duo gevraagd ook sets te verzorgen in de Brusselse discotheek Dirty Dancing. Hier groeit het duo uit tot een veelgevraagd DJ-koppel en doen ze optredens door België, Nederland, Frankrijk, Polen, Duitsland en Engeland.

In 2006 komen de DJ's in contact met Papillon (Jeroen De Pessemier) een Vlaamse danceproducer en songschrijver, die in de electroband Foxylane speelt. De drie besluiten te gaan samenwerken onder de naam The Subs. Het drietal brengt het nummer You make me spill uit in eigen beheer. Deze single groeit uit tot een underground clubhit. Hierop wordt de band getekend door het N.E.W.S. platenlabel en speelt de band op 10 Days Off.

De band brengt nog een aantal singles en met de vierde single in 2007 Kiss my trance is het raak. Het nummer krijgt veel airplay op Studio Brussel en de groep speelt zich in de aandacht van het grote publiek. Dat jaar speelt de band op grote festivals als Lowlands en Pukkelpop.

De groep gebruikt live een uitgebreide DJ setup, enkele analoge synthesizers en vocals. Met een uitbundige podiumact tracht de band hun enthousiasme over te brengen op het publiek
