The chewy script is still a problem in this second episode, with Dr Aleks Krotoski treating her pieces to camera as she would a university lecture. When TV viewers hear a presenter rumble on about "forces that challenge our real-world ideas of identity, nationality and community", our eyes may glaze over. But don't let them, because this is once again full of sharp ideas. The founders of the net, the world wide web (Tim Berners-Lee), Amazon, Twitter, Microsoft and Paypal are among the talking heads; Al Gore growls about "a new information ecosystem" and the President of Estonia recalls the 2007 cyber attacks on his country. The theme is the web's political power, from Twitter coordinating protests in Iran to Wikileaks publishing government memos. Sadly, it's a place that allows extremist groups to flourish, too, in what Berners-Lee calls "a horrible cultural pothole".
