Synopis:

Buzz Rickson is a dare-devil World War II bomber pilot with a death wish. Failing at everything not involving flying, Rickson lives for the most dangerous missions. His crew lives with this aspect of his personality only because they know he always brings them back alive.

Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, Buzz Rickson (STEVE MCQUEEN) é o piloto mais corajoso de seu esquadrão e tambem o mais impulsivo e irresponsavel. A bordo de um B-17 e em sua incansavel busca pelas mais perigosas missões quase perde a vida durante uma missão de bombardeio na Alemanha. Ao mesmo tempo emque suas ousadas manobras conquistam o respeito de sua relutante tripulação, sua atitude rebelde o afasta de todos, com exceção de seu co- piloto Ed Bolland (ROBERT WAGNER). Mas, até mesmo essa amizade é destruida quando tenta concquistar Dauphne (SHIRLEY ANNE FIELD), a namorada de Ed.
