The Webley Story - W C Dowell - 1987.pdf (Size: 23.87 MB)
Description
PDF, text replaced, re-formatted to single column for easier screen reading, bookmarks, fully searchable. Unable to do much with the pictures as my copy is a re-print by the Heritage Foundation and is on poor quality paper. An essential resource for anyone researching the history of Webley and Webley & Scott firearms. Focusses mostly on the revolvers and semi-auto pistols, which are long out of production, but also mentions ammunition, various accoutrements and other oddities. Dowell supposedly wrote the book to publicise the sale of his collection and there are reputedly a few mistakes in the text, but it is an extensive and exhaustive study, certainly not a glossy, facile, coffee-table tome. It doesn't delve too far into serial-numbers and tiny variations in markings, but it gives illustrations of the evolution of Webley's revolver-locks, for example. Just arcane enough for me without straying into the dull minutiae so beloved of the serious collector. Sharing Widget |
