Paul Maguire (Nicolas Cage) en zijn vrienden Kane (Max Ryan) en Doherty
(Michael McGrady) leven in een wereld van criminaliteit. Op een nacht lokken ze
een Russische gangster in de val die op weg is om geld naar zijn baas te brengen.
De opbrengst is groter dan ze dachten en met een koffer vol geld en een Tokarev
(Russische wapen) vluchten ze. De misdaad zorgt echter voor een langdurige oorlog
tussen hun Ierse familie en de Russische maffia. Jaren later, wanneer Paul zijn
criminele verleden achter zich heeft gelaten en een gezin gesticht heeft, wordt
zijn dochter ontvoerd.

Paul Maguire is by all accounts, a decent man. A contractor by trade, he is a
pillar of his community, and a family man. His wife Vanessa and his daughter Caitlin
adore him. But it wasn't always this way. Paul is actually a reformed criminal who
still keeps in touch with his old associates, especially Kane (Max Ryan) and Doherty.
One night Paul and Vanessa go out to dinner with some friends, leaving Caitlin at
home with her friends Mike and Evan. In the middle of their dinner, Detective St. John
enters the restaurant and tells him that something has happened to Caitlin.
