Description

What is the Tor Browser Bundle?

The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked.

The Tor Browser Bundle lets you use Tor on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux without needing to install any software. It can run off a USB flash drive, comes with a pre-configured web browser to protect your anonymity, and is self-contained.

What is Tor?

Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis

Why Anonymity Matters

Tor protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, and it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location. Tor works with many of your existing applications, including web browsers, instant messaging clients, remote login, and other applications based on the TCP protocol.

Want Tor to really work?

You need to change some of your habits, as some things won't work exactly as you are used to. Please read the full list of warnings for details.

Look, just by being here you'll end up on the list. Only if you are extremely careful will you successfully evade an agency that has a budget in the billions to target a group in the tens of thousands and 90% of them are just a side show. Oh yes, and you have to be 100% perfect each time you go out there in the digital realm. Sorry, but I seriously doubt that happens often.

What you really should be doing is creating all kinds of digital noise. One way of doing that is encouraging every one you can reach to also use TOR or the tails distribution. They'll choke on the data since their policy is to keep anything encrypted for always. Something tells me they'll have to change that policy or build a butt-load of data-centers, not just two new ones (Utah and Maryland as I recall.)

As an aside, I've been on their list for decades just due what's in my head courtesy of the US Navy. You just get used to it. Again, no evasion is perfect, although I do have a lot of practice just to drive them a bit nuts.

So get torrent, if it's legit. The more the merrier!
