Jackson) attempts to force Yusuf (Sheen) to reveal the locations of the nuclear bombs. Also involved is Special Agent Helen Brody of the FBI who initially strongly disapproves of the methods 'H' uses. At the same time, Brody's team tries to determine the locations of the bombs using other information. As the interrogation begins, 'H' displays the sorts of methods he uses when he straps Yusuf's arm onto a table and chops off one of his fingers with a small hatchet. Surprised by this, Special Agent Brody questions the military commander about the rights of American citizens but is told that anything that could be done, would be done to get the locations of the nuclear bombs. As the story progresses, 'H' warns everyone that he would do the unthinkable if necessary and escalates his methods as Yusuf continues to refuse to cooperate. Yusuf tells them that something will happen and deceives Brody, leading to a bomb detonating in a shopping mall, killing 53 people. Agent Brody, angry with the incident, takes a knife and cuts Yusuf's chest. He is disgusted by this act and starts crying over Agent Brody that why she cares of those 53 people and doesn't care of those 53 that Americans kill in Iraq everyday. 'H' still believes he can break Yusuf. Yusuf's wife is brought in and after failing to make Yusuf cooperate, 'H' slashes her throat and she bleeds to death. Still without cooperation, 'H' tells the soldiers to bring in Yusuf's two children, a boy and a girl. 'H' assures those watching the interrogation that he will not harm the children, but despite being given the three bomb locations, still moves to do so. Only the intervention of others prevents 'H' harming the children. 'H' insists that there is still a fourth bomb, and wants the children brought back in, a request which the others appear to agree with. However, Brody refuses to sanction the request and 'H' brings Yusuf out of the torture chamber and into the interrogation hall. Yusuf is unstrapped and 'H' tells him that he is a 'free man', however Yusuf manages to get hold of a pistol and commits suicide. Brody walks out of the building with Yusuf's children. In an alternate ending not included in the American release, an FBI agent disarms one of the bombs, the camera then pans to reveal a fourth bomb in the same warehouse as it counts down to the time it is set to explode.
