After the thrill-packed Vol. 3, Didn't It Blow Your Mind, Vol. 4 pales slightly, but
that's only on a relative scale. While there are some merely pleasant cuts
here, there are also some indisputable classics and great forgotten singles
that make it another excellent addition to the ongoing series. Among the
highlights are Freda Payne's "Deeper & Deeper," King Floyd's "Groove Me,"
the Chairmen of the Board's "Chairman of the Board," the Staple Singers'
"Heavy Makes You Happy (Sha-Na-Boom-Boom)," Ike & Tina Turner's "Proud
Mary" and the Chi-Lites' classic protest "(For God's Sake) Give More Power to
the People."
