Glitch Mode Recordings are still a relatively new outfit, conceived by the members of Cyanotic, but is already gaining momentum to become one of the more productive underground labels around. Not unlike Cracknation or Positron! Records, Glitch Mode is as much a community as it is a label, a microcosm of the newer, more innovative and adventurous artists in the industrial and electronic music scene. As the third compilation released under the label, after DarkSonus Vol.1 and the Modern Destruction digipak, Hordes of the Elite is perhaps the finest collection of today's hardest-hitting industrial acts they have yet assembled. After a brief intro of distorted drum & bass with some robotic vocals, Cyanotic kick off the CD with the glitch-laden mayhem of "Order Out of Chaos," presented here in an alternate mix that only ups the ante of noise and volume from the album version. Cyanotic also pays tribute to their coldwave mentors in fine form, remixing 16 Volt's "American Porn Song," yet another taste of what is to come on 16 Volt's impending new album, FullBlackHabit. Drukore's remix of Sindaddy's "Panties" comes in next, keeping listeners in the midst of the maelstrom with pounding distortion and scattered breaks of drum & bass and high-frequency synthesizer noise. Slowing down the pace ever so slightly are Carbon12's epic "Worthless," which trudges along in cinematic fashion, and Adipocere's "Mechanical Asphyxia," a track characterized by skipping samples and dark ambient textures. Other tracks, like GenCAB's "Perish the Thought," Bound in Oblivion's "The Other Side," and Empty's "Castrated," kick into high gear danceable electro with pulsating synthesizers and dark melodies. Suffice to say, there's something for every type of rivethead on Hordes of the Elite, from the brutal industrial assault of Manufraqture's "FriQtion" or Skullduggery's "Violent Reaction" to the frenetic experimental drum & bass of Left Spine Down's "Hang Up" and Darque Science's "Obsoletist." There's even a slight bit of hip-hop to be found in Encounter Box's "Ammunation," or even the mock-classical whimsy of Rabbit Junk's "Industrial is Dead," making for a well-rounded and truly forward-thinking compilation. For all those people who feel that the true spirit of industrial music is dead and that there is no exploration or progress in the sound, Hordes of the Elite will prove them wrong, providing a virulent assortment of today's best and brightest. Beware of the Glitch Mode Squad, for as the intro track so accurately and shamelessly states, "This shit will fuck you up!" -- This release is GMR-006 http://glitchmode.com http://www.discogs.com/Various-h0rd3z-ov-thee-el33t/release/752784 Tracklist: 01 - Speech Text Slutzorz - Glitch Mode [00:38] Squad is the Squad 02 - Cyanotic - Order Out of Chaos (Demo) [03:52] 03 - Sindaddy Vs.
