Description This album celebrates the ancient Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Breton and Galician sounds and styles that have evolved into what we now know as "Celtic music". Creations in Celtic music can be divided into two different areas: 'tunes' and 'songs'. 'Tunes' are often instrumental, laced with recurring melodies and phrases that highlight the instruments and the skill of their masters. 'Songs' are stories, thoughts or memories where the human voice is king. Celtic music has always paid homage to the oldest instrument, and this album is blessed with some of the finest vocalists of our age. The popular voices of Sarah McLachlan, Sinead O'Connor, Eva Cassidy, Eddi Reader (Fairground Attraction) and Andrea Corr feature alongside the divine tones of Moya Brennan (Clannad), Loreena McKennitt, and Brian Kennedy. As well as featuring the acclaimed bands Clannad, The Corrs, Fairground Attraction, Runrig and Capercaille, some of the finest Celtic musicians are showcased here. Davy Spillane shows his mastery of the uilleann pipes with the slow air 'Port Na bPúcaí' whilst the mercurial Dave Bainbridge, a master of many stringed instruments, is accompanied by the hauntingly beautiful voice of Joanne Hogg on his solo creation 'Until the Tide Turns' and Iona's 'Divine Presence'.
