This game was intended to run properly in earlier versions of Windows. Your issue, unfortunate as it is, applies to many people. I can assure you it has nothing to do with game 's files. The game is ok. I have it authentic too, and it has even more problems (the retail, not GoG). Plus, the 1.1 patch GoG version has merged in, tends to mess something up with saves (you might loose one or two saved games or something). Still, it is an awesome game. And if you save frequently and methodically, you have absolutely nothing to fear. The real loss is its multiplayer. The last many years it has no server, couple with discontinued support. Still, it is a great title. No lies.
