This is a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 conversion, in AVCHD format, created from a 24/96 hi-rez source utilizing the SPEC method (Slice mode) as found on www.surroundbyus.com. This can only be played on systems capable of decoding DTS-MA signals. You can burn the image to a DVD and play on a bluray player. I suggest using ImgBurn – just click on the MDS file.

David Lee Roth is back with Van Halen and the new album is a return to the classic Van Halen sound. Fans were anxiously awaiting the release of “A Different Kind Of Truth”. Unfortunately, the sound on the compact disc is probably the worst example of sonic brickwalling ever to be unleashed on the unsuspecting public. Everything is compressed into a harsh mess, totally devoid of any dynamics, making their great new songs unlistenable.

Luckily, the two disc vinyl version of the album corrects most of what is wrong with the CD version. I sourced this 5.1 upmix from an excellent 96khz/24 bit vinyl rip. I would like to credit the ripper, but I got it from the “D” just before that site went down and failed to note the poster’s name. All I can say is he used excellent equipment. Now you can have the quality of the vinyl version in 5.1 lossless surround sound.
