2/6. An eight-year-old girl goes missing on her way to school, and suspicion immediately falls on her mother and father, who are locked in a bitter custody battle. However, both the child's parents appear to have airtight alibis, and are equally distraught over young Ella's disappearance. However, a sinister link to the past is established when Wallander realises this case bears a remarkable similarity to one from 10 years ago.
