Wayne Shorter - 1966 - The All Seeing Eye (2013 HDtracks) [FLAC@192khz24bit] Wayne Shorter The Wayne Shorter Quartet in 2010 Wikipedia: Wayne Shorter (born August 25, 1933) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Many of Shorter's compositions have become jazz standards, and his output has earned worldwide recognition, critical praise and various commendations, including 10 Grammy Awards. He has also received acclaim for his mastery of the soprano saxophone (after switching his focus from the tenor in the late 1960s), beginning an extended reign in 1970 as Down Beat's annual poll-winner on that instrument, winning the critics' poll for 10 consecutive years and the readers' for 18. The New York Times has described Shorter as "probably jazz's greatest living small-group composer and a contender for greatest living improviser." Shorter first came to wide prominence in the late 1950s as a member of, and eventually primary composer for, Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. In the 1960s, he went on to join Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, and from there he co-founded the jazz fusion band Weather Report. He has recorded over 20 albums as a bandleader. AllMusic Review by Scott Yanow: With such titles as "The All Seeing Eye," "Genesis," "Chaos," "Face of the Deep," and "Mephistopheles," it is clear from the start that the music on this LP is not basic bop and blues. Wayne Shorter (who composed four of the five originals) picked an all-star cast (trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, altoist James Spaulding, trombonist Grachan Moncur III, pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Joe Chambers, along with brother Alan Shorter on flügelhorn for the final song) to perform and interpret the dramatic selections, and their brand of controlled freedom has plenty of subtle surprises. This is stimulating music that still sounds fresh. 01 - The All Seeing Eye - 10:32 02 - Genesis - 11:44 03 - Chaos - 6:55 04 - Face Of The Deep - 5:29 05 - Mephistopheles - 9:41 Personnel: Wayne Shorter - tenor saxophone Freddie Hubbard - trumpet, flugelhorn Grachan Moncur III - trombone James Spaulding - alto saxophone Herbie Hancock - piano Ron Carter - bass Joe Chambers - drums Alan Shorter - flugelhorn (track 5 only) ♪♬♫ ENJOY! ♪♬♫ Sharing Widget |
