About the emulator

The WS4000 emulator is a free application written in C# which displays weather information in the same visual presentation as the WeatherSTAR 4000 cable headend unit did.

The application is fully featured, multithreaded, customizable emulator of the 4000 which you run on your computer. It utilizes the GPU capabilities of modern graphics cards (including HLSL) to display weather information just as the 4000 did, which has the added bonus of using negligible CPU resources (when vsync mode is turned on). The weather information comes directly from the National Weather Service and is automatically kept up to date. It is also very customizable through the usage of "flavors" and even season dependent playlists.
