'What's Eating Gilbert Grape?' is een uiterst originele en vaak grappige film met 'ster tegen wil en dank' Johnny Depp, wiens vader is gestorven en die moet zorgen voor zijn 250 kilo wegende moeder en zijn jongere broetje (gespeeld door Leonardo DiCaprio). Weinig redenen tot geluk, ware het niet dat hij de bizarre Becky (Juliette Lewis) tegen het lijf loopt.

'What's Eating Gilbert Grape?' is a original movie with some good humor. After his father died Gilbert Grape has to take care of his mother and his little brother. It's a hard life with not much time for his own. When he meets the free spirit becky he falls in love and he finds himself in trouble combinding the care of his mother and brother with his own private life.
