Critical Update Information for Win EE Editions
The following are critical patches and updates for win EE editions
1)Win EE 7 x32 x64 Pleae copy the files in the Alex 7 Hotfix folder to windows>fonts, you can chose to overwrite the current files or
only copy over the new files, these are fonts so check confirm when asked to install, if you get any problems do it in safe mode.
......... This fies an issue with MS office 2010 install.
2)Win EE 7 x32 x64 Please turn the windows update service from DISABLED to MANUAL
.........start menu>administrative tools>services windows update service from DISABLED to MANUAL
.........this will fix an issue with autopatcher
3)Win XP "Alexander" please copy the files in the Alexander Hotfix Folder to windows>system32
.........This fies an issue with some programs requiring these multi meadia files
THe following are recomended upgrades.
1) Win EE 7 x32 x64 Run Shortcut-to-remover. in the recomended folder
........ This removes the annoying "shortcut to" text infront of every shortcut one makes
The Office Software Protection Platform service is generally started on demand when a user has started Office, however, there are license types which can start the service otherwise (such as those using a Key Management Server). As for stopping the service, there are several reasons we do not automatically shut down the service by default. These reasons are based on Office's cross OS version compatibility, communications from our users about their Office usage profile, preferences, resource usage profile, and differing ways in utilizing the service between Office and Windows.
That said, while we do not default our service to timing out after inactivity, if this is something your organization values, you have the ability to control this. You may set the following registry key:
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftOfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform
ValueName: InactivityShutdownDelay
ValueType: DWORD
ValueData: The number in seconds, that the Office Software Protection Platform will stay running for, after the most recent activity. The windows default for this is 300 seconds.
After setting this key, simply restart the Office Software Protection Platform Service to use the new settings.
This fix is expressed to work by MS support but DOES NOT !!!!!, i will be releasing a custom code patch in the next EE service pack
