I installed a Win7x 64 on a new disk on an XP machine as prep to leave XP behind.
But then I started getting winload.exe error and foolishly though memory test might sort it out but it didn't and also screwed up my win7 partitions. So I now can't boot on with win7. The I notice that the CDDVD driver has chewed up my XP setup disk. I had to dismantle it to get the pieces out. But then Windows could see the CD drive either although it was still there in the BIOS.
Having tried everything. I tried to change from a slave IDE connection on to SATA (silly). Then when I booted up now it can't even been seen in the BIOS. Same with the new win7 hard disk (BIOS doesn't see it any more).
So I download this XP and my place is to install it over the old installation so that I will be able to load the drivers and won't loose all my apps installations and there is a lot of them and all this when I must meet a deadline on document I am preparing for a court case.

My question is: shall I? Or is this going to make things even worse. The other option is to restore to about a week ago but I don't think that will do it.

Its Really amazing and Perfect,Do as I say to avoid any confusion.i installed it and is working Gr8.
Make A Bootable CD/DVD by POWER ISO.Simply Open in power iso , see on left bottom it will say bootable image, start burning and click verify data.

Things TO DO after Installing Windows Xp Black Edition:

1.Press Win+R
Type following:

regedit

Goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion

on right hand side modify:

RegisteredOrganization
RegisteredOwner

2.Right Click on My Computer and go to properties.
Goto Computer Name
Click Change button
Give Computer Name and press OK
Restart

3.You can Run any Program as Administrator by doing Following:

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options
on R.H.S right click on "Accounts: Administrator account status" and go to properties and enable it.
Right Click on My Computer and go to manage
system tools > Local Users and Groups > Users > Right click on administrator an click set Password > Proceed > Ok


4.Remove window automatic update turned off from taskbar.
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > double click on Security Center > change Start up type from Automatic to Disabled and apply > Click on STOP beneath service status > OK > close all windows.

i made a bootable usb 2x and when I plugged it, boot with usb device and then it only shows black screen and a blinking "_" underscore at the top left?.
